On September 23, 2020, Cisco launched Flex 3.0, which is a major update to the Cisco Collaboration Flex Plan and offers several immediate benefits to customers. Here are the top four updates you should be aware of, along with links to end-of-sale announcements.
1. Simpler Enterprise Agreements (EAs) – For customers with 250 or more users, the EA covers all knowledge workers in an organization and allows for 20% growth. EAs are being simplified to a single tier model and access to additional licensing is being made up front in customers’ Smart Account. Previously, SMP had to request extra licenses from Cisco.
2. Flexibility for Named Users – Customers with fewer than 250 users qualify for the Flex Named User model. With Flex 3.0, pricing is more competitive and new licensing options have been designed for calling to provide more flexibility. There are four value tiers Named Users can choose from:
a. Meeting + Calling Pack: delivers complete collaboration capabilities
b. Professional: built for knowledge worker calling needs
c. Enhanced: built for the needs of task workers and common areas
d. Access: for those with analog and very basic device needs (for on-premises calling only)
3. Consistent offer for cloud, hosted and on-premises – With Flex 3.0, a customer can have Webex through the cloud and bundle it with a Cisco on-premises calling plan. Plus, when customers migrate from on-prem to the cloud, Flex 3.0 allows them to change the mix of on-prem and cloud licenses to minimize costs and disruption.
4. Perpetual licensing is being phased out – With Flex 3.0 in place, Cisco is making an end-of-sale and end-of-life announcement for perpetual licensing options for Business Edition 7000 Unified Communication Manager (UCM) and will announce the formal-end-of-life notification for Business Edition 6000 licensing in January 2021.
