SMP President Presented Donation Check for Student Equestrian Therapy Program
Rochester, NY – May 20, 2016 – (Rochester, N.Y. – May 20, 2016) On Friday, May 20, students at The Norman Howard School welcomed the Systems Management Planning (SMP) Chevrolet Corvette home from the One Lap of America race series. As part of the warm welcome for the racecar, students and school leadership also accepted a “check” to support a student education and therapy program. While students cheered for the racecar bearing their school’s logo on during the One Lap races, SMP and community members raised $10,700 for The Norman Howard School as part of a fundraising challenge.
SMP president Eric Rorapaugh just completed the nearly 3,000 mile One Lap of America race series. As part of that journey, Rorapaugh partnered with The Norman Howard School. Students hosted the car at their school last month before the race series. They also followed the car on social media during the multi-state journey. SMP also offered a match for donations to benefit the student equestrian therapy and education program up to $5,000.
The Norman Howard School was identified as a community partner for Rorapaugh by his co-driver Steve Baxter, whose daughter attends the school. Other sponsors for the SMP One Lap of America car included: Cisco, Dell, Pure Storage, Van Bortel and Ingram Micro. The One Lap of America race series was held from April 30 to May 7. Team SMP posted videos and social media posts from the road which can be found at https://www.smp-corp.com/one-lap-of-america.
