SMP Snags Third Top Workplaces Award

Rochester, NY – (March 24, 2016)  Systems Management Planning (SMP) has been awarded a 2016 Top Workplaces honor by the Rochester-based newspaper the Democrat and Chronicle. This is SMP’s third appearance in three years on the list. SMP achieved the number 18 ranking this year in the 35 to 124 employee company category, an improvement of eight places over last year’s list.

The Top Workplaces lists are based solely on the results of an employee feedback survey administered by WorkplaceDynamics, LLC, a leading research firm that specializes in organizational health and workplace improvement. Several aspects of workplace culture were measured, including Alignment, Execution, and Connection, just to name a few.

“At SMP, it’s all about our people” said Peter Allen COO of SMP. “Our corporate vision is simple. We focus on building a great place to work where our employees feel empowered and enjoy the work they do. Our emphasis on culture and being a top workplace drives every decision we make.”

SMP employees benefit from the company’s focus on wellness and community giving. A full-time wellness director leads the more than 90 SMP employees in numerous programs that range from daily fitness activities to community volunteering.  Employees at SMP also gain a sense of the company’s strategic vision through bi-annual corporate kick-offs that blend learning and fun. SMP employees from all locations, even as far away as Florida and Texas, come together for these sessions.

“The Top Workplaces award is not a popularity contest. And oftentimes, people assume it’s all about fancy perks and benefits.” says Doug Claffey, CEO of WorkplaceDynamics. “But to be a Top Workplace, organizations must meet our strict standards for organizational health. And who better to ask about work life than the people who live the culture every day—the employees. Time and time again, our research has proven that what’s most important to them is a strong belief in where the organization is headed, how it’s going to get there, and the feeling that everyone is in it together. Claffey adds, “Without this sense of connection, an organization doesn’t have a shot at being named a Top Workplace.”
