Rochester, NY (May 3, 2019): — SMP, best-in-class IT provider serving the Northeast US, is participating once again (4 years in a row) in the “One Lap of America” as a fundraiser in support of Rochester-based Norman Howard School.

What are we raising money for? To achieve success, students who learn differently need opportunities to interact with schoolwork differently. The Norman Howard School paves the road to academic success for students with learning challenges by providing expert teachers, unique approaches, enriching experiences, and a sense of belonging.

What is this race? Starting in the early 1970’s (and turned into the hit move “Cannonball Run”) this race began as a cross country road race from New York to California. The race has evolved into an 8-day, multi-track competition, including timed trails on race tracks throughout the country. But that’s not all, participants must battle fatigue, weather, traffic and the demands of the high-speed competition while driving over 5000 miles between racetracks.

SMP’s owner and founder, Eric Rorapaugh, is the designated driver and has been running this race for four years. Eric relishes not only the race itself, but also being able to help the kids attending The Norman Howard School get the opportunity to learn and interact with schoolwork the way that suites their special needs.

“Really SMP is the winner here. We get to participate in an event we love, AND we get to help raise money and awareness for a very worthy cause,” comments Eric Rorapaugh, SMP president and One Lap driver.

How can folks donate? SMP will match every dollar donated, up to $5000, to help create critical experiential learning opportunities not funded by New York State Education. Learn more about helping this great school:
