What is Cisco Collaboration Flex licensing? Why should I care?

Cisco Flex Enterprise Agreement

What it is

Cisco® Collaboration Flex Plan is a single subscription that gives you access to Cisco’s collaboration services and software. It also allows you to mix and match buying models and deployment models depending on your needs at any given time. One subscription covers software and technical support for:

•Cisco Webex® Meetings and Teams

•Cloud services

•On premise Cisco Unified Communications software

•Cisco Meeting Server software

These plans seek to simplify license management, enable usage and provide predictable costs.  The licensing is grouped into two categories, Calling and Meeting.  Here is a summary of them.

Calling

Collaboration Flex Plan Calling – Enterprise Agreement:  Under the Enterprise Agreement buying model, you are entitled to provision 120% of your Knowledge Workers (“Growth Allowance”). “Knowledge Workers” means your employees and contractors that use computing or communications devices capable of running Cisco Webex® services, Cisco Unified Communications Manager software, and Cisco Meeting Server software as part of their job duties that are performed on your behalf.

Collaboration Flex Plan Calling – Named User: Under the Named User buying model, you are charged based on the quantity of Named User accounts that you order, regardless of usage. A “Named User” is an employee that you register and provision to access the specified Cisco service or Cisco collaboration software. Your Named Users will receive a unique account that may not be shared or used by anyone other than the designated employee.

Meetings

Collaboration Flex Plan Meeting – Active User:  Under the Active User buying model, you are billed only for your Active Users, above a minimum purchase of 40. “Active Users” are Knowledge Workers that initiate a Meeting. A “Meeting” is initiated when a Knowledge Worker does one of the following: (a) hosts at least one Cisco Webex Teams meeting, Cisco Webex Meeting, or Cisco Meeting Server meeting within a subscription month; or (b) uses the Knowledge Worker’s designated Personal Conferencing Number service, regardless of whether a Cisco Webex Teams meetings, Cisco Webex meeting, or Cisco Meeting Server meeting is launched. Note that a meeting launched from a Webex Teams 1-to-1 space will not count as a Meeting.

Collaboration Flex Plan Meeting – Enterprise Agreement:  Under the Enterprise Agreement buying model, you are entitled to provision 120% of your Knowledge Workers (“Growth Allowance”). “Knowledge Workers” means your employees and contractors that use computing or communications devices capable of running Cisco Webex® services, Cisco Unified Communications Manager software, or Cisco Meeting Server software as part of their job duties that are performed on your behalf.

Collaboration Flex Plan Meeting – Named User: Under the Named User buying model, you are charged based on the quantity of Named User accounts that you order, regardless of usage. A “Named User” is an Employee that you register and provision to access the specified Cisco service or Cisco collaboration software. Your Named Users will receive a unique account that may not be shared or used by anyone other than the designated Employee
